THE BIRTH of HAPPY LAND
When night fell, Cyrus retired to his bedroom, pleased with the work that had gotten done. As he lay in his quiet bedroom, he began to hear sawing and hammering outside. He looked out his window and saw the workers continuously working, even though it was black as pitch. Cyrus couldn't allow it to bother him. He simply lay down, and fell asleep to the sounds of happiness being built. When Cyrus awoke the next morning and went outside, he was astonished to see that the entire amusement park had been built. The workmen stood on the porch, only now they were dressed as clowns. Cyrus was overjoyed. He told the men to finish the house, and he would go gather the townspeople. The workmen nodded, but said nothing. After much persuasion, everyone from both towns came to see this remarkable amusement park. The children were in awe and were eager to check everything out. The parents had mixed feelings, but couldn't disappoint their children. Cyrus handed each of them his hand drawn maps, and the children ran into the park. They rode the roller coaster, picked flowers in the ever growing garden, picked fruit from the lush farmland, joined the clowns in the funhouse, played games in the Happy House, pet the animals in the zoo, and all the while begged Uncle Cyrus to join them. Happy Land had come to life, and even the parents were smiling. |
